The NC Wildlife Resources Commission is offering a free Outdoor Cooking workshop on June 4, 2016, from 9am to 2pm, at the John E. Pechmann Fishing Education Center in Fayetteville NC.

During the workshop, which is part of the Commission’s outdoors skills programs, participants will learn how to prepare a meal over a wood fire and charcoal briquettes. They will learn how to cook game, fish and other traditional meals in a camp setting, using a Dutch oven. They also will learn new cooking techniques.

“This is a hands-on class where participants will prepare and eat their outdoor meals, so everyone should bring a camp-style chair and a hearty appetite,” said Outdoor Skills Coordinator BB Gillen.

Due to the hands-on nature of the workshop, space is limited to the 25 people ages 14 and up, on a first-come, first-serve basis. Pre-registration is required by contacting Thomas Carpenter at 910.868.5003 x.15 or email.

The John E. Pechmann Fishing Education Center is located at 7489 Raeford Road, Fayetteville NC — across from Lake Rim.

Wildlife Commission staff at the Pechmann Center conducts fishing workshops, events and clinics throughout the year. Most programs are free and open to the public.

For more information about the center, or to learn more about the many workshops conducted across the state, visit the Commission’s Learning page at www.ncwildlife.org/learning.
