By Tameka Kenan-Norman

The 45th annual city of Rocky Mount Independence Celebration will take place at the Rocky Mount Sports Complex Sunday, July 3, 2016, 6-9:30pm, starting with music and concluding with a bang.

The event kicks off with local favorite Rhythm Express taking the stage at 6pm, followed by the singing of the National Anthem and an opportunity to honor our veterans and active military personnel. Rubberband closes out the stage portion of the event, with fireworks starting around 9:15pm.

“We’re hoping everyone will come out for a family-friendly good time,” says Susan Phelps, special events coordinator for the city of Rocky Mount. “It’s a great way to celebrate our country’s freedom.”

Inflatables and other amusements will be on hand to help keep younger guests entertained, and food vendors will be on site selling their delicacies. Parking will be available at both the stadium and the Rocky Mount Sports Complex.

The event is free and open to the public. For more information, call 252.972.1151.
