Nashville Elementary and the Town of Nashville are partnering to host a 5K — with a hometown feel.  This race is presented by local sponsors working with Nashville Elementary school to raise money for a new playground.

The Hometown Heroes race is designed to be a low-cost race option that encourages runners to take a moment during this weekend to think about their freedoms and character traits that have been developed because of a special hero.  The money raised will benefit the students and staff of the Nashville Elementary School. This 5k race is accurately measured and chip timed.

The race is scheduled for Saturday, September 10, 2016, 7:30-10:30am (EDT). The race begins at Nashville Elementary School, 209 East Virginia Avenue, in Nashville NC.

Races are scheduled as follows:

  • 7:30am – 5K Race
  • 8:15am – 1 Mile Run
  • 8:45am – Fun Kids Obstacle Run

The 5k course starts in front of Nashville Elementay School. The 1-mile course starts in the same place.  The Kids Obstacle course will be set up in the front of the school by the finish line.

Tar River Timing is assisting with this 5k and 1 Mile Fun Run, held entirely in the town of Nashville NC. Participants may sign up through EventBrite.

There is no charge to watch the event and cheer on participants!

Several Nashville businesses are planning to provide us with refreshments after the race.  Racers will be provided with free snacks and beverages.
