Zebulon Farm Fresh Market (ZFFM) New Location and 2016 Schedule

The Zebulon Farm Fresh Market is preparing for their second year, and is moving to a new location. The market will be held on Arendell Avenue, close to Wakelon Plaza and 264/64 highway exit at Zebulon NC.

Opening day is May 7, 2016. Its new location The market will be on Zebulon Municipal Complex lawn, 1003 N Arendell Avenue, Zebulon NC. This location is just across Arendell Avenue from the Food Lion (Wakelon) plaza, with the market by the Town Hall parking lot, giving better visibility and quicker access from the highway.

The market will be open Saturdays, 9am-1pm, through October.  In addition to the weekly market, special events are scheduled including a November holiday family day.

Entertainment at the market allows shoppers to relax and listen to music, enjoy fun activities with the kids, learn from visiting chefs, pick up information on community happenings, and enter to win free gifts from the market. Entertainers and guest presenters are still being selected. To be considered, fill out the market’s “Interest Form“.

Zebulon Farm Fresh Market began in 2015 with a three-year grant. It continues thanks to the vendors and patrons who made its first year a success. Visit the Zebulon Farm Fresh Market on Facebook, or their Town of Zebulon Farm Fresh Market web page.

Becoming a Vendor

The Zebulon Farm Fresh Market desires vendors who can offer “the freshest and best-tasting locally-grown produce, helping to preserve the tradition of small farms in the region.”

Products available in the first year, 2015, included: heirloom and gourmet fruits and vegetables, grass-fed beef, free-range poultry and eggs, pasture pork, honey, butter, pepper relishes, sauces, fresh herbs, cut flowers, ornamental plants, and vegetable garden plants.

While some vendors from 2015 are returning, new vendors are expected. Those who enjoyed the market last year may find more delicious foods and crafts this year as the market continues to grow!

One 2015 vendor that is returning is Baxter’s Bees of Zebulon. Shannon Baxter says, “We ARE returning! The move from the Community Center to the Municipal Complex will be exciting. I am hoping that the move will allow the market to serve more people and bring more fresh, local food to our community.”

The Baxters are always looking for better ways to reach people, through service projects, community outreach, and education opportunities. They believe that this new location will allow them to interact with more folks who are interested in bees, becoming beekeepers, or helping to protect our food supply by supporting a local beekeeper. Shannon believes, “The new location is a step in the right direction for Zebulon, giving the market, as well as the town more exposure, which may hopefully lead to a revitalization of the downtown area.”
