Sometimes the book is so good, it inspires a movie!  Don’t miss this special movie showing and decide the age old question – is the book better?Did you read the book,  “The Glass Castle”  in the month of July? If not, grab it now, and get to reading (if you did, well done!) and see the movie. (Registration requested for the movie showing).

Meet the Artist: Colored Pencils

Drop in and meet members of the local chapter of the Colored Pencil Society of America as they demonstrate and showcase their colored pencil creations. No registration required.

Acrylic Pour

Tuesday, August 27, 2019 @ 7pm

Acrylic pour is a painting technique that creates a fluid, marbleized effect on a canvas. Come learn the basics of this unique art style and create your own masterpiece. All materials provided. Registration requested.  PLEASE NOTE: Due to the long drying time this technique requires, you will need to leave your painting with us overnight to dry before taking it home.

Babies and their caregivers are invited to participate in a 20 minute lapsit program that incorporates age appropriate books, music, rhymes, and movement.

Toddler Storytime

Children from walkers to age 3 and their caregivers are invited to participate in a 25 minute interactive program that incorporates age appropriate books, music, rhymes, and movement.

Children ages 3-5 and their caregivers are invited to participate in an interactive program that incorporates age appropriate books, songs, and movement to nurture pre-reading skills.

Family Storytime

Family Pajama Storytime

Young children and their families are invited to put on their PJ’s, grab their teddy bears and join us for an evening filled with bedtime stories and songs.

ABC Craft and Learn: A Kindergarten Readiness Program

Children ages 3-5 and their caregivers are invited to participate in an interactive alphabet-based program to nurture pre-reading skills and to develop fine motor skills through writing, play, and an alphabet craft.

3-5: Thursday, August 1, 2019 — Explore the Moon — 3,2,1 Blast off to a space party on the moon. We’ll read a book, “If You Had Your Birthday Party on the Moon” by Lapin, have activities and make moon dough.

Week 2

K-2: Tuesday, August 6, 2019 — Explore the World of Eric Carle  — We’ll read a book, play a game and make your own colorful collage.

3-5: Thursday, August 8, 2019 — Create Outside the Lines (3D Paper Art) — Whirl and twirl your way to birds, flowers, rockets and more with the art of paper quilling. All materials provided. Registration requested. Space is limited.

Week 3

K-2: Tuesday, August 13, 2019 — In Your Own Backyard — Read and learn about birds, nature and camping. We’ll play a game, make a nature craft and s’mores.

3-5: Thursday, August 15, 2019 — Dare to Discover: Magnetic Slime — Defy gravity with the pull of magnets in slime that will stretch, wrap and move on its own.

Week 4

K-2: Tuesday, Aug.  20, 2019 — Paint Your Planet — Read about space and planets in our galaxy, play Bingo and design and paint your own planet.

3-5: Thursday, August 22, 2019 —   Read Beyond the Book:  Heroes in Training   —  Do you have what it takes to master the skills of ancient Greek heroes?

Week 5

K-2: Tuesday, August 27, 2019 —  Create and Paint — Learn about different painting techniques and create your own work of art to take home. 

3-5: Thursday, August 29, 2019 — Star Wars — Ready? You should Be!  It’s a Star Wars party!!!  Explore the edge of the galaxy with books, game stations and Star War crafts.
