A representative of Johnston County Public Schools is seeking local authors to participate in an upcoming literacy event. Authors will have the opportunity to share their work, sign books, and interact with students, faculty, and community members.

The focus of the event, JoCo Reads, is the importance of reading and writing. Parents and members of the public will be invited to attend alongside teachers and students. Authors of books for children, teens, and adults are welcome.

Including local authors gives students a chance to see the real people behind the books and ask authors questions. Says Nicole Mellott, Academic Innovation Coordinator for Johnston County Public Schools:

“We would like to showcase local talent and give students the opportunity to connect with authors in our area.”

The event will be held at a Smithfield/Selma, North Carolina area school on Thursday, December 6, 2018, 6-7:30pm.

Authors interested in participating should email Ms. Mellott at Johnston County Public Schools.
