St John AME Zion Church in Wilson, North Carolina, for its 151st Anniversary, has planned several music-oriented events for the remainder of 2019. The public is invited to join their August Women in White, September Anniversary Celebration, and October Men in Black events.

St. John AME Zion Church has a spiritual, historical connection as one of the oldest African American facilities of worship in the City of Wilson. The organization goals are “to represent God’s will in the community and beyond through evangelism and educational efforts.” This year’s theme is “By the Grace of God”.

Women in White Celebration

Sunday, August 25, 2019 @ 4pm

Join this gathering in your “All White” attire and enjoy music featuring Cynthia Cooper-Powell, former background singer for Patti LaBelle and Teddy Pendergrass.

During this fundraiser, donations will be accepted for the church building fund.

151st Anniversary Celebration

Sunday, September 15, 2019 @ 4pm

Join the church for its celebration at the LN Forbes Tabernacle, 1800 Lane Street, Wilson, NC. Hear gospel performed by Grammy-award winning Reverend Luther Barnes and the Restoration Worship Center Choir.

Tickets are $15 and must be purchased in-advance at Wards Steak and Cheese (6228 Ward Boulevard, Wilson, NC); no tickets will be sold at the door.

Men In Black: A Celebration in Song

Sunday, October 6, 2019 @ 4pm

Wear all-black and join this evening featuring Professional Gospel Recording Artists Everett Silver and  Derrick Lucas, with a special guest to be announced.

This celebration in Song will be held at 119 North Pender Street, Wilson, NC.
