So, a couple drops off their car at a repair shop. They tell the service manager behind the counter that their car is making clunking sounds any time they turn.
The mechanic gets the repair order and takes the car out for a test drive. One block up, he makes a right turn, and a second later he hears a clunk. A few blocks later, he turns left and again hears a clunk.
Returning to the repair shop, with several clunks along the way, the mechanic on a hunch opens the car’s trunk—and immediately sees the problem.
He pulls the car out of the service bay and takes the repair order back to the service counter. He tells the service manager, “Their clunking noise is gone. I took the bowling ball out of the trunk.”
