Free Cat Spay/Neuter Clinics

Released by Megan Rees, ddfl.org

In honor of World Spay Day, the Dumb Friends League is offering free cat spay and neuter surgeries through its mobile clinics on Tuesday, February 23, 2016.

The Dumb Friends League will have two mobile clinics available at Denver Animal Shelter, 1241 W Bayaud Avenue, Denver CO. Check-in for the clinics February 23 begins at 7:30am and will be first-come, first-served. The Dumb Friends League expects a large turnout, so people are encouraged to arrive with their cats before 7am to get in line.

In addition, Denver Animal Shelter will be providing all clinic attendees with a voucher for a free pet microchip identification implant, and all patrons will also receive a free gift bag from the Dumb Friends League.

World Spay Day is an international campaign that shines a spotlight on spaying and neutering to help save the lives of companion animals. The campaign promotes spay/neuter as a simple, humane and effective way to curb pet overpopulation and reduce the number of homeless pets in the United States and abroad.

“Our goal is to make spay and neuter clinics more accessible to more people,” said Amanda Beals, outreach manager at the Dumb Friends League. “As a community, we’re actively working together to combat pet overpopulation, ultimately reducing the number of homeless pets that come into our shelters.”

The Dumb Friends League has two mobile clinics—the Meow Mobile and Lulu Mobile—that provide spay and neuter services at reduced fees, subsidized by Dumb Friends League donors, to pets in targeted communities within the Denver metro area six days a week. Each surgery is performed by a veterinarian licensed in the state of Colorado. Last year alone, the two Dumb Friends League mobile clinics spayed and neutered more than 8,500 pets.
