An open-barn “Family Farm Day” event was held at Kindred Spirits Farm in Zebulon, North Carolina on Saturday, September 23, 2017. Dozens of families came for fun and to watch horse-riding demonstrations.
The day’s activities including dressing up horses, fly kites, make crafts, face painting, and more. People of all ages set up chairs in the grass or walked around the pasture, as horses met with the crowd or navigated the farm’s obstacle course.
Cars lined the farm’s road. Adults, children, and even a couple of pups came to participate and watch the horse demonstrations.
Volunteers painted faces, assisted children in creating puffy, beaded crafts to take home, and children flew kites around the open field.
Kim Haselhuhn, founder of Kindred Spirits Farm, directed activities, oversaw the horse-rider demonstrations, and interacted with teens, parents, and children throughout the day.
