Nature Walks to Highlight Rocky Mount’s Battle Park

By Robin Cox, City of Rocky Mount

The city of Rocky Mount Parks and Recreation Department will offer guided nature walks at Battle Park every first Saturday now through December — October 7, November 4, and December 2, 2017 — from 10am to noon.

Naturalist Tom Stutz will lead the walks, which will highlight identification and uses of trees and plants, wildlife, and more.

“We are excited to continue our nature-based programs. We have had great turnout in the past and expect a great season of nature walks this year,” said Sheila Long, recreation supervisor for the Imperial Centre for the Arts and Sciences. “We really hope people will come out and enjoy all Battle Park has to offer.”

Anyone interested should meet in the Battle Park boat ramp parking lot. In the event of rain attendees should meet at Battle Park “Shelter C.” Battle Park is located at 1308 Falls Road, Rocky Mount NC. The boat ramp parking lot and shelter C are located on Battle Park Drive. For more information, call the city at 252.972.1367.
