Braswell Memorial Library in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, hosts several club which meet monthly. Come and find out what they are all about.

All three clubs are free and open to the public, and there is no fee for meetings.

The Cookbook Club is open to adults. During their meetings, each member reads a cookbook — usually focused on a monthly theme — and then prepares a recipe from that book to share. Then, the group has a potluck lunch over which they discuss books, authors, and the ease in using the recipe. Their November meeting is November 7, 2016, and the theme will be foreign recipes.

The Photo Club is open to all ages and skill level photographers.  Attendees may bring their cameras and photos to meetings held on the fourth Saturday of the month. Note the club will next meet January 28, 2017.  However, in December, the club will be hosting a “Shoot The Stars” photo contest, which will go hand-in-hand with Braswell’s “Discover Space” program. Entries will be displayed from December 7-28, 2016, in the library’s Second Floor Art Gallery. All visitors will be able to vote for their choice in each category: Children under 13, Teen 13-17, Adults 18 and over, or Professional — earning over $5,000/year through photography. Photo entry subject matter must be astrological in nature. The contest rules are included below. Winners will be announced during a December 28 celebration at the library.

The Coloring Club is open to adults and teens, and meets on the fourth Saturday of the month. The group listens to relaxing music, holds quiet conversations, and enjoys coloring for a little more than an hour. This is great chance to get away and just be creative! While the club next meets in January, the library always has a Coloring Table available in their Teen Area with coloring pages and colored pencils for anyone wishing to make a quick stop to relax and de-stress, before joining the next club meeting on January 28, 2017.
