Each year, Keep America Beautiful of Nash and Edgecombe Counties helps sponsor two large scale litter collection events in the Twin Counties. The event in the fall, Twin Counties Big Sweep, is a continuation of NC Big Sweep and focuses on litter removal on land and along our waterways.
Please register today and participate in the Twin Counties Big Sweep Challenge, a one-day cleanup event held in conjunction with the Twin Counties Big Sweep 2015, on October 3, 2015, from 8am to noon.
Volunteers will meet at the City of Rocky Mount Environmental Services Operational Center located at 1221 Thorpe Road and will be asked to pick up litter at designated sites in Rocky Mount. Trash bags, gloves, and safety vests will be provided. Volunteers will need to provide their own transportation to their assigned cleanup site.
The Twin Counties Big Sweep Challenge is made possible through financial support of local Rocky Mount area businesses and the Community Appearance Anti-Litter Coalition. Cash prizes will be awarded to participants in the Twin Counties Big Sweep Challenge (in the Rocky Mount area only) using the following five (5) categories: 10 Baggers ($750); Neighborhood Sweep ($500); Most Litter By Weight ($500); Largest Single Item By Weight ($150); Most Unusual Item ($100).
To register your group to participate in the Twin Counties Big Sweep Challenge, call Cornelia McGee at 252.467.4960 by September 28, 2015, before 5pm.
Everyone will meet at City of Rocky Mount Environmental Services Operational Center, 1221 Thorpe Road (next to Harrison Family YMCA) in Rocky Mount NC.
