Author Pat Tiffin’s new book, Our Lady of Variety, launches on September 1, 2020. It’s a funny, irreverent and thought-provoking story of an appearance by the Virgin Mary in the fictional town of Variety, North Carolina.

Carlene Stiles isn’t exactly what you’d call a believer. So, when the Virgin Mary shows up behind her doublewide, even she doesn’t believe it. Folks in Variety think it’s a hoot and even her best friend couldn’t stop laughing. Until she did.

As a series of supernatural events catch the attention of cable news, Carlene is besieged by reporters, Caravans of the faithful are setting up camp on her lawn. A homeless Las Vegas preacher shows up with a bus of nuns. A grieving mother is compelled to seek the remains of her dead son.

Everyone loves a miracle until one happens. Then all hell breaks loose.

Variety is divided like never before. Is this a message from God or the work of the Devil? Carlene’s weekly conversations with the Blessed Mother go back and forth as she struggles to decide what to believe. It will take till the end for her to truly know what’s real.

Tiffin says: “I’ve been fascinated by the Virgin Mary for years. The idea of putting her in a modern setting with someone like Carlene appealed to me. In this day and age, are people willing to believe in miracles?”

The eBook may be purchased at Barnes & Noble, Apple Books, and Smashwords. Amazon offers the eBook and the paperback.

Tiffin will be hosting virtual book clubs with readers to discuss the book. To sign up, visit the OurLadyofVariety.com website.

Regarding libraries, Tiffin adds: “The eBook is also available on Overdrive. That’s the catalog for the library, at a lower price. If you like the book, please consider encouraging your library to order it. Thank you.”

Pat Tiffin lives in Fayetteville, NC. Our Lady of Variety is her third book. Her first novel, “Watching Vanessa” was published by Baskerville Publishing, St. Martin’s Press, and Hodder & Stoughton (currently out of print).  Her second novel, No New Messages, is the story of a 9/11 widow coming apart at the seams who ends up in a small town near Wendell, NC.  It is available at Amazon as an eBook and paperback.
