One Fret Over Takes First Place in the Got to Be NC Festival Carolina Bluegrass Battle

One Fret Over, a band made up of siblings Gabe and Grace Bemus from Salisbury, North Carolina, and Elijah and Lincoln Moore from Kernersville, NC, won the Got to Be NC Festival’s bluegrass competition, earning the band $500 and paid performances at the 2019 NC State Fair, at PreddyFest 2019,  and the Willow Oak Fest in Roxboro.

Cuttin Grass from Raleigh, NC finished in second place, winning $250. Cuttin Grass band members are Wally McKay, Doug Meade, Amos Rozier, Steve Moore, Will Lutter, and Billy Powell.

Hazy Ridge Bluegrass band members Vince and Dawn Myers, Bryan Bogenberger, Marissa Colter, and Ryan Dunn placed third and took their $125 prize back home to Clemmons, NC.

The competition was held May 19, 2019 at the Got to Be NC Festival. It featured seven amateur bluegrass bands from North Carolina playing traditional and contemporary bluegrass. Bands were scored on musicality, crowd appeal and vocal and instrument performance.

One Fret Over will perform at the State Fair October 17-27, 2019.
