The Spruce Pine Alien Conference and Expo will be held on Lower Street in downtown Spruce Pine, North Carolina (Mitchell County) on June 14-15, 2019. This is a free event open to everyone interested in the unknown.
Friday night is just a warm-up for folks visiting and maybe a chance to catch a glimpse of something out of this world. We will have LIVE MUSIC! Sending signals to outer space! People can join us in the MARS LANDING pavilion for beer and the best ‘80s rock ’n’ roll, with the best ‘80s party band, SPANK! It will be a great time.
On Saturday, the events start with an official opening at 9am. Scheduled presentations and events are:

There is going to be a little bit for everyone. Children will have a chance to race bikes, like in the movie E.T., for some fun prizes. There will be a youth costume contest and an entire area of inflatable bounce houses for them to play in.
The adults can wander through all of Spruce Pine. On one end will be a large beer garden for parents to relax. Food vendors down the middle and then folks selling all types of items related to Spruce Pine and the visitors we receive here.
At night, there will be a couple of bands sending sounds into the night air.
Visitors can also visit the Bare Dark Sky Observatory, with shuttles leaving every 30 minutes from town.

Why Spruce Pine, North Carolina
The question that seems to come up most is: Why an alien conference in Spruce Pine, of all places? That is a legitimate question for visitors who pass through this small, sleepy town. But if you speak to locals, you will get a full understanding on the why.
Mitchell County, where Spruce Pine is located, was listed as the No. 1 county in North Carolina for UFO sightings. And one of the reasons might be the vein of quartz and gems that are located in the hills around the county. Spruce Pine has been long known as the mineral city, for a good reason. People have been coming to visit for over 30 years to the gem and mineral festivals held yearly. Now we are celebrating something a little different.
There have been sightings around this county for years. It has been reported that there were three different UFO crash sites that were investigated. The town is in close proximity to Mount Mitchell (the largest mountain east of the Mississippi) and the Brown Mountain Lights. There are so many unexplained events around Spruce Pine that it just makes sense to have an alien festival in town.
