The Franklin County Arts Council’s Writers Guild will hold their annual Writers Retreat on April 23, 2022. The Guild is excited to announce that David Halperin, author of the popular book Journal of a UFO Investigator, will be their guest speaker.

This annual day-retreat will be held 9am-4pm in Rolling View State Park’s Community Building, located at 4201 Baptist Road, Durham, North Carolina (in Falls Lake State Recreational Area). Writers of all stages of writing experience are encouraged to attend.

Mr. Halperin will open a full day of writing, networking, and fellowship with a presentation on what led him to writing about UFOs. Halperin’s own journey into the subject of his book began when he was a young boy. Later he became a professor of religious studies — his specialty, religious traditions of heavenly ascent.

From 1976 through 2000, David taught Jewish history in the Religious Studies Department at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.

Now retired from teaching, he lives in North Carolina. He’s the author of five non-fiction books on Jewish mysticism and messianism, the coming-of-age novel Journal of a UFO Investigator, and more recently, the non-fiction book Intimate Alien: The Hidden Story of the UFO. Learn more about David Halperin at www.DavidHalperin.net.

Beverages and snacks will be provided. Participants should bring a bag lunch.  Registration fees are $35 for members and $45 for non-members.
