The Franklin County Arts Council (FCAC) Writers’ Guild annual “Carolina Prize for Writing Contest” is accepting submissions until midnight on March 15, 2022. Writers of all ages are encouraged to quickly submit their poetry, prose, or cover art before the deadline.
Contest entries must be original, unpublished works submitted by their creator. Entries are accepted from writers worldwide. Contest entry fee is $10 (US) per entry. Entries must be emailed, and corresponding payments received by March 15, 2022.
There will be one winner in each category:
- Prose: may include short stories (fiction), essays, or creative nonfiction up to 2,000 words maximum
- Poetry: entries may be as short as a few lines or up to a maximum of 30 lines
- Cover Art: entries may be paintings, drawings, or photographs in color.
The Writers’ Guild, based in Louisburg, North Carolina, will select one winner each in the Prose, Poetry, and Cover Art categories. Carolina Prize winners will receive $100 and have their winning entry published in the 10th anniversary volume: 2023 County Lines: A Literary Journal.
Winners will also receive two free copies of the journal. Up to five honorable mentions may also be named in each of the categories and published in the journal; honorable mention creators will receive one copy of the journal.
