A new novel by written by Nash County based Rose Cushing is now available. Fortunate Tides, Cushing’s first novel, begins in picturesque New Bern, North Carolina, and features a young girl who grows up there.
During her youth the heroin spent many happy hours roaming the marshes in Hobucken, fishing in Bay River, and sailing out of Oriental. The heroin becomes a successful magazine writer in Raleigh, who finds out that she is the sole heir to a fortune.
The novel is about how everyone dreams of waking up rich one morning but is it all that you think it would be. Fortunate Tides is filled with adventure, romance, and intrigue which unfolds in the waters of the Caribbean.

Rose Cushing, owner of Cushing Media, has enjoyed success in multiple media arenas. She has produced the first weekly equestrian television show in North Carolina about the North Carolina Horse Industry for the past twelve years. She published the first monthly equestrian. magazine, Carolina Hoofbeats, featuring horse people from the Carolinas in 2011 for four years; it grew into a regional publication Southeast Hoofbeats for an additional six years.
Cushing got her start in writing as the Spring Hope Enterprise’s Marketing Director and writer. She later went on to become the Marketing Director and writer at the Daily Southerner in Tarboro, NC.
Cushing is also the producer of additional award-winning television shows such as From the Ground Up, From the Judges Perspective, and Herd This. In 2021 Cushing began the first podcast to feature exclusively women in the horse industry, Todays Horsewoman, which has grown to an audience nationwide and in 42 countries.
Rose is an International Film Festival Award-winning Documentary Film maker for her film about hurricane Florence and the extensive damage done to eastern North Carolina, A Flood of Tears.
Her latest endeavor will be production of a new podcast Carolina Writers Speak based on writers from the two Carolinas which will offer them a platform to discuss their works, and encourage others in their profession.
Cushing currently lives in Middlesex, NC where she raises horses, gardens, and enjoys the many facets of her career.
