
The Town of Wendell is seeking candidates to perform the duties of a “Public Works Specialist I” for the new year.
Wendell is seeking a qualified person to perform a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled tasks, under direct supervision of the Public Works Crew Leader, in construction, drainage systems, buildings, grounds, and other facilities. Work includes collecting yard waste, appliances, furniture and helping maintain Town equipment and vehicles.
Work involves operating a variety of hand and power tools. Employees are subject to working in both inside and outside environments.
This position requires a high school diploma or GED and some experience in semi-skilled maintenance or construction work. Applicants must:
- have a valid North Carolina driver’s license
- be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions
- be able to perform heavy work exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally; 50 pounds of force frequently; and 20 pounds constantly
