Police Department Schedules Additional Dates for “Chat with the Chief”

The Rocky Mount, North Carolina police department has scheduled four new locations for their Chat with the Chief initiative. During Chat with the Chief, residents can personally meet their police chief and his command staff. The initiative provides an informal way for citizens to discuss concerns or ask policing questions.

“Chat with the Chief is a way to continue the police department’s community policing efforts. Community policing is all about allocating officers to a number of different areas so they can get to know the members of the community,” said Williams.

Chat with the Chief will take place Wednesday, February 21, 2018 in the Golden East Crossing Mall parking lot near Dunham’s Sports, on the Jeffrey’s Roadd side, between 11am and 1pm. That same day, Chat with the Chief will also be held in the Food Lion Parking lot in the Oakwood Shopping Center on Fairview Road, between 1pm and 3pm.

The Rocky Mount Police Department’s Mobile Command Unit (MCU) will be deployed and stationed throughout these communities to provide residents easy access to local law enforcement leaders. Residents can discuss community matters and meet those who are responsible for providing public safety.

On Thursday, February 22, 2018, Chat with the Chief and the MCU will be stationed on Boone Street at the Rolling Meadows Apartments from 11am to 1pm, and in the 700 block of Branch Street, between 1pm and 3pm.

“This initiative is a great opportunity for me to get out into the city, meet the citizens and listen to their concerns. It’s another step in striving to make Rocky Mount a safer community with the assistance of our citizens.”
