After a brief break, the Franklin County Arts Council (FCAC), based in Louisburg, North Carolina, has announced their July 2021 Artist of the Month: artist and author Donna Campbell Smith.
Donna Campbell Smith has been a published author and freelance writer for over 30 years. Her titles include three historical fiction novels for young readers: Pale as the Moon, An Independent Spirit, and Bear Song. Pale as the Moon was recommended by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction and selected by Renaissance Learning’s Accelerated Reader Program.
She also has four adult non-fiction books: The Book of Miniature Horses, The Book of Draft Horses, The Book of Mules, and The Book of Donkeys. On July 17, 2021, at 11am, Donna will be at the FCAC’s Gallery on the Hill, 99 S Bickett Blvd, (Louisburg, North Carolina) for an Open House/Book Signing event!
Following that, on July 23, 2021, 1-3pm, Donna is hosting a Self-Publishing Workshop for one lucky group. The workshop will explore DIY book publishing.

- Discussing the self-publishing process including:
- using templates to design a cover
- getting help with editing
- utilizing beta readers
- setting up the interior of your books (tips)
- and more!
Participants will be provided with helpful resources and handouts during this in-person workshop. Maximum of 8 participants; sign up now ($30 for FCAC members, or $40 for non-members) via the “Register” button at http://fcacarts.org/events.aspx.
