Each December on National “Wreaths Across America Day,” Wreaths Across America coordinates wreath-laying ceremonies at Arlington National Cemetery, and 1,600+ locations in all 50 states, at sea, and abroad. The Nash County 4-H is organizing a bus trip to transport a group from Nashville, North Carolina to Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia to lay wreaths.

The trip starts early in the morning on Saturday, December 14, 2019, with a bus departing Nash County Agriculture Center, 1006 Eastern Avenue, Room 102 in Nashville, NC at 4am, sharp. Those joining the trip ($45 fee) are urged to arrive around 3:30am to avoid being left behind.

The bus’s estimated arrival at Arlington is 8:30am. Volunteers will line up to receive a wreath (provided) and either place it on a grave where they are directed, or on a loved one’s grave. Volunteers, after placing the wreath, must speak the soldier’s name aloud to honor them.

Once the wreath is placed, volunteers may spend the day in the area viewing monuments, visiting museums, shopping, and other activities they would like at their own pace. Note that Wreaths Across America ceremonies will be happening at the Pentagon and elsewhere.

The bus will depart at 6pm, sharp, (again, be early) to return to Nash County. Arrival in Nashville is estimated to be 11pm.
