The Cumberland Community Foundation has awarded a “Summertime Kids” program grant to GroundSwell Pictures of Fayetteville, North Carolina, in support of GroundSwell’s Shooting Stars Film Camp.

Shooting Stars Film Camp is a one week camp conducted each summer to teach filmmaking as well as the power of film to create change. This is the third year for Shooting Stars Film Camp, and the Board is extremely honored to have been selected to receive this pivotal grant to provide scholarships for 11 children to attend film camp this year.

Cumberland Community Foundation’s Summertime Kids program has helped more than 1,000 youth have life-changing summer experiences. Many of these youth are from low income families and underserved communities. All donations benefit recreational, enrichment, and mentoring activities for youth in summer camps that are offered by local nonprofit organizations, neighborhood groups, and other community groups.

GroundSwell Pictures, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit located in Fayetteville, North Carolina, seeks to engage and inspire diverse communities by producing films, showing films, teaching filmmaking and supporting films that make a positive difference and enrich the community through cultural arts.
