The North Carolina Board of Agriculture will hold its quarterly meeting Wednesday, August 23, 2017, at 2pm in the Martin Building at the NC State Fairgrounds, 1025 Blue Ridge Road, Raleigh NC.
The board will take up the following items:
- Begin the process of adopting by reference new federal food-safety rules.
- Begin the process to readopt state forestry rules that were deemed necessary following periodic rules review.
- Adopt permanent rules for the Animal Shelter Support Fund. The rules define eligible expenses and establish application guidelines. Temporary rules have been in place since last November.
- Consider a request from the NCDA&CS Plant Industry Division to modify the sampling procedure for bags of fertilizer.
Two new members of the board will be sworn in at the meeting: Jose Calderon of Wake County and Scott Tyson of Nash County. Both were appointed by Governor Roy Cooper.
The NC Board of Agriculture is a policymaking body that adopts regulations for many of the programs administered by the NC Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. Board Members are appointed by the governor. The commissioner of agriculture serves as chairman of the board.
