Grant of $15,000 will help save more pet lives throughout North Carolina

On April 16, 2021, the SPCA of Wake County (SPCA Wake) announced a $15,000 grant investment from the newly named Petco Love, to support SPCA Wake’s lifesaving work for animals throughout North Carolina.

Petco Love is a nonprofit leading change for pets nationally by harnessing the power of love to make communities and pet families closer, stronger, and healthier. Since their founding in 1999 as the Petco Foundation, they’ve empowered organizations with nearly $300 million invested to date in adoption and other lifesaving efforts. And, they’ve helped find loving homes for more than 6.5 million pets in partnership with Petco and more than 4,000 organizations, like ours, nationwide.

“Today Petco Love announces an investment in the SPCA of Wake County and hundreds of other organizations as part of our commitment to create a future in which no pet is unnecessary euthanized,” said Susanne Kogut, President of Petco Love. “Our local investments are only one component. This month, we will also launch the first of our national tools to empower all animal lovers to drive lifesaving change right alongside us.”

“This $15,000 grant investment in SPCA Wake’s strong foster care program will help ensure that our staff and volunteers have the resources they need as we head into the program’s busiest season. Because of Petco Love’s support and the work of our amazing foster care volunteers, pets who need to spend time in the foster care program over the next few months will be receiving truly incredible lifesaving care,” said Sarah Streeper, Grants & Impact Officer of SPCA of Wake County.

The SPCA of Wake County is a nonprofit organization that works through collaborative partnerships that save pets and people throughout North Carolina. Since 1967, the SPCA of Wake County has built robust pet transfer and vital supply partnerships with over 56 counties across North Carolina.
