In an ongoing effort to promote understanding, respect and harmony among all people, the Human Relations Commission in conjunction with the Human Relations Department at the city of Rocky Mount, North Carolina will host “Conversations with the Hispanic Community.”

The event will take place Monday, October 7, 2019, 6:30pm, in the Booker T. Theatre, 170 E Thomas Street, Rocky Mount, NC.

The meeting’s purpose is two-fold: to allow the residents of the Hispanic community to share the challenges and fears their families face in the community, and to dispel any misinformation concerning police and other city departments. The meeting will also serve as an opportunity to distribute information regarding the many services and activities that are available to residents.

Said Human Relations Director Archie Jones:

“Creating an environment of trust with the Hispanic community is essential for strengthening the relationship between the city and the residents. A strong relationship with all community members can only serve to benefit the citizens and the city.”

Personnel from Police, Fire, Community Code, Development Services, and Parks and Recreation will also be in attendance to meet with community members and listen to any question or concerns they may have.

For more information, call the Human Relations Department at 252.972.1180.
