The North Carolina Industrial Hemp Commission will hold a public meeting to review and approve research pilot program applications and continue permanent rule-making.

This public meeting is Wednesday, October 11, 2017, beginning at 9am. There will be a time allowed for public comment.

The meeting location is the Senator Bob Martin Eastern Agricultural Center, 2900 NC Hwy 125 S, Williamston NC. Williamston NC is in Martin County, approximately 45 minutes east of Rocky Mount NC.

The NC General Assembly passed Senate Bill 313 in 2015, allowing the creation of the Industrial Hemp Commission to develop the rules and licensing structure necessary to stay within federal laws. The Industrial Hemp Commission adopted temporary rules in February, setting up the application requirements and process.

With meeting questions, call Lori Pfister at 919.707.3236. The NC Industrial Hemp Commission and its hemp-farming Pilot Program are part of the NC Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. Commission schedule, pilot program information, and released documents/rules may be found online at ncagr.gov/hemp.
