September 1, 2011, a witness in Sims, North Carolina (Wilson County) reported sighting an unidentified flying object (UFO) in the sky above Sims.

As reported on www.mufon.com (the Mutual UFO Network), the witness spotted an egg-shaped, brightly lit object in the sky. This large object was being pursued by fighter jets. From the witness’s description, the F-15 jets were pursuing the egg-shaped object at a slow rate of speed, less than 1,000 feet above the ground. During the pursuit, a second object appeared in the sky, quickly maneuvering and then streaking out of sight.

The witness described the first object as larger than a C-5 Galaxy — which is one of the largest aircraft made — and completely silent. The second object was also described as silent.

In the years since the 2011 Sims sighting, four additional reports of UFO activity over Wilson County have been reported, though there are no additional reports from Sims.

White and colored orbs were reported from Elm City in September of 2015. A colorful, moving UFO was reported from Wilson that same month. Three months earlier, a shooting star-like object was reported, changing directions in the sky over Wilson.

The only sighting reported through the MUFON network between the Wilson sightings and Sims UFO was a report of a UFO hiding amongst clouds over Stantonsburg.

More information on this and other North Carolina UFO sightings are available online, via searchable database and map, at www.mufon.com. If you’ve spotted an unidentified flying object, you can report it through that same website. When reporting, you’ll be given the chance to include the year and date on which you saw the object, as well as the current date, so it is never too late to report!
