Film festivals planned for 2018 in Eastern North Carolina are listed below. Dates and locations are included for those who wish to attend and be part of the audience.

For festivals still accepting film submissions, submission deadlines are included below.

Longleaf Film Festival

The Longleaf Film Festival is a free, public festival that “highlights the best of historic and contemporary stories through narrative and documentary features and shorts.” The 2018 film festival is the fourth-annual offering. Check out last year’s winners here.

Film buffs, mark your calendars for Longleaf — scheduled for May 11-12, 2018 at the North Carolina Museum of History, 5 E Edenton Street, Raleigh NC. Watch for updates on the film festival’s Facebook page: www.facebook.com/LongleafFilmFestival.

Praxis Film Festival

This film festival seeks to “provide opporunties to encounter, through film, other countries, cultures, and life circumstances.

The eighth-annual Praxis Film Festival is scheduled for May 4-5, 2018 at the Paramount Theatre, 139 S Center Street, Goldsboro NC. The official film festival website is praxisfilmfestival.org, which includes a link for ticket purchases.

Filmmakers, submissions are being accepted through March 5, 2018. Submission guidelines and details may be found at filmfreeway.com/PraxisFilmFestival.

Full Frame Documentary Film Festival

The 21st-annual festival is scheduled for April 5-8, 2018 with documentary screenings at multiple locations in Durham NC. Tickets are on sale now at www.fullframefest.org/attend/passes-tickets.

Submissions are no longer being accepted. An announcement of films selected is expected in March 2018.

Nevermore Film Festival

Nevermore is a juried competition festival where submissions — features or shorts — emphasize horror, science fiction, dark fantasy, animation, mystery/suspense, or action-thrillers.

The 19th-annual festival is February 23-25, 2018 at The Carolina Theatre of Durham, 309 W Morgan Street, Durham NC. When tickets go on sale, pricing and purchase information may be found via www.carolinatheatre.org/films/festivals/nevermore.

Submissions closed in 2017. An announcement of films selected is expected at the end of January 2018.
