The city of Rocky Mount’s annual Juneteenth Community Empowerment Festival will be held Friday, May 31, 2019, 5-10pm and Saturday, June 1, 2019, 11:30am-8pm, at the Imperial Centre for the Arts and Sciences.
For a third year, the city’s Communications and Marketing office will announce the Juneteenth headliners via mobile messaging on Monday, April 22, 2019, at noon. To find out who will be performing, text CITYBEAT to 55469.
Says Tameka Kenan-Norman, the city’s chief Communications and Marketing officer:
“Juneteenth is a very informative and exciting event. Not only do attendees learn the significance of Juneteenth, but they always have the opportunity to experience a plethora of activities.
“We would like to add to that excitement by encouraging the public to be our V.I.P.s. Just text CITYBEAT to 55469 and be among the first to hear about our headlining acts for Juneteenth.”
The festival, coordinated by the city’s Parks and Recreation Department and the Community Empowerment Committee, includes Juneteenth historical information, a bike rodeo, an A/B honor roll celebration, a keynote speaker, and headlining acts on Friday night and Saturday evening.
The Imperial Centre for the Arts and Sciences is located at 270 Gay Street, Rocky Mount, North Carolina.
