Wilson County Public Library Programs for Late May 2021

The final days of may May are bringing in colorful blooms and exciting programs.  Check out the library’s new Star Wars Trivia for teens, Mental Health Month programs, Wilson history, and fun take-home crafts.

All programs are free of charge and will be accessible via the library’s Facebook and YouTube channels or Zoom, unless otherwise specified.  Registration is not required unless stated for a program.

NOTE:  Summer is coming soon, and Wilson County Public Library staff is busy planning for our annual Summer Reading Program, taking place June 14-August 7, 2021.  This summer’s theme, Tails and Tales, will include a variety of amazing virtual programs and take-home activities.

Youth Programs

ABC Storytime: Monday, May 24, 2021 @ 10am

Ages 0-5.  Join us for a virtual interactive alphabet story time focusing on letter recognition and phonological awareness, including interactive games, songs, and fingerplays.

STEAM Programs: Tuesdays, May 18 and 25, 2021 @ 7pm

Ages 5 and up. Activity packets will be available for pickup at the Youth Services Desk on the Monday before each program, while supplies last.

Storytime: Wednesdays, May 19 and 26, 2021 @ 10am

Ages 0-10.  Join us for an all ages storytime.  Each week we will explore a new theme with favorite stories old and new!

Pajama Storytime: Thursdays, May 20 and 27, 2021 @ 5pm

Ages 3-6.  Join us every Thursday for our Pajama Storytime! This new program presented by our branch librarians will provide stories, songs, and other surprises to help our younger patrons have pleasant dreams!

Bilingual Storytime: Fridays, May 21 and 28, 2021 @ 5pm

Ages 0-10.  Listen to favorite stories in English and Spanish!

Teen Advisory Board Meeting:  Thursday, May 20, 2021 @ 4pm

TAB gives teens the opportunity to share ideas and plan programs and services offered to their peers by the library. Members of TAB attend monthly meetings and assist in at least one teen program each school year. Participation may count toward school and National Honor Society service hours!  Meetings will be held via Zoom. Please register to obtain a Zoom link.

TGIF: Teen Book of the Week: Fridays @ 11am

TGIF is a weekly book review show featuring Teen Librarian Kate Brittain. Listen to book reviews and recommendations for readers of Young Adult literature and learn background information on each title. Tune into Facebook or YouTube every Friday for a brand-new episode!

Adult Programs

Finding Local Mental Health Help: Tuesday, May 18, 2021 @ 2pm

May is Mental Health Awareness Month.  In this live Zoom webinar, Courtney Boyette from Eastpointe will discuss how to access services in Wilson County, raise treatment awareness, reduce the stigma of mental health, and explain how to seek help. Local History and Genealogy Programs

Three Historic Hospitals:  Wednesday, May 19, 2021 @ 7pm
