Dawn Lancaster and Donna Campbell Smith have teamed up to offer two great workshops in one: Eco Printing and Journaling with Nature. The day-long retreat for ages 16 and up will be held Saturday, July 22, 2017, from 9am until 4pm at Donna’s home studio near Franklinton, North Carolina.
Surrounded by fields and forest, participants will collect and use natural materials to learn eco printing on watercolor paper with Dawn. In the afternoon Donna will lead the group in journaling exercises using their senses and the surrounding nature to make their writing come alive. Putting the two skills together they can make a beautiful journal or a mixed media art project. At the close of the day, participants will finish the eco print project.
Dawn lives in Youngsville, North Carolina where she enjoys a variety of arts including eco printing. She uses natural materials including the leaves of rose bushes, maple, oak, eucalyptus, and rose petals. The process involves placing the leaves and petals on fabric or paper and steaming. Each piece of art is unique to itself.
Donna Campbell Smith is a published author and freelance writer with a dozen books and hundreds of articles, stories and poems to her credit. She is also a freelance photographer, an artist and writing workshop facilitator.
