The Wilson County Master Gardeners present Halloween Treats at the Wilson Botanical Gardens, an outdoor event celebrating traditional Halloween activities on Sunday, October 30, 2016, 5-7:30pm.

Community arts organizations will set up decorated tables throughout the Gardens to receive trick-or-treaters and to distribute information about their programs and activities. These actors, dancers, singers, and musicians will perform throughout the gardens during the event.

A Pumpkin Contest is planned, too, so bring a decorated pumpkin to enter. Youth and Adult (14+) categories in Carved or Painted pumpkins will be judged and awarded prizes. To participate, bring your pumpkin to the Treehouse in the Children’s Secret Garden by 6:15pm.

Children may pause to listen to a story at our Little Free Library, make some Halloween crafts, and join a Costume Parade led by the Fike High School Marching Band.

Storytellers from the Wilson County Public Library will tell a spooky tale at 7pm.

A “photo op” Halloween scene designed by the Arts Council of Wilson will be available for taking photos of your trick-or-treaters.

The Wilson Botanical Gardens are located at 1806 Goldsboro Street SW, in Wilson, North Carolina. Parking will be next door at the Senior Center. The back parking lot will be kept free of cars for the safety of the children.

This is a kid-friendly event. No scary or violent costumes should be worn to this Halloween event.

Also, leave pets and glass bottles at home, but remember to bring a flashlight!
