It’s time for the Imperial Centre for the Arts and Sciences’ Fall arts classes and workshops. New to the arts or have experience? There is something for everyone — kids, adults, and families. Come experiment with creativity September through December.

The Imperial Centre, located at 270 Gay Street, Rocky Mount, North Carolina, offers a variety of programs, workshops, and special events. The facilities include a theater, science center, arts center, planetarium, and gallery exhibits and are managed by the city of Rocky Mount Parks and Recreation Department.

Programs with a fee may offer a discounted members-rate and a rate for general public. Unless otherwise noted, programs are held in the Arts Education Building at Imperial Centre.

Exercise

These programs have a limit on the number of participants and take place over multiple weeks. Single classes may be purchased.

Yoga

Tuesdays, September 17-December 10, 2019 @ 5:30-6:30pm

Bring your yoga mat and get ready to unwind. Registration is not required, drop-ins of age 15+ welcome. Limited to 20 participants.

Pre-registration suggested; Limited to 20 participants. Yoga is $6/class, or $27/5-class pass.

Ballet Fit Fusion

Saturdays, September 7-November 9, 2019 @ 10-11am

(No class 10/5)

Join us for a ballet-based workout concentrating on core stability, strength, and balance. Most classes are practiced in the center of the floor and at the ballet barre. No prior dance experience necessary. Must be age 18+ to participate.

Pre-registration suggested; Limited to 20 participants. Ballet Fit Fusion is $7/class.

Mommy+Me Arts

Wednesdays, October 9-November 20, 2019 @ 10:30-11:30am

Explore a variety of art materials, experience new textures, improve fine motor skills, and enjoy being creative together. Each class introduces children and caregivers to a story, art materials and creativity. All materials are provided. Open to ages 2-8.

Pre-registration is suggested, drop-ins welcome. Limited to 15 participants. Fee is $5/person.

Family Arts Sundays

Sundays, September 8-December 15, 2019 @ 2-4pm

(No class 10/27 and 11/10)

Free. Drop into the Art Gallery for art making, interactive play, gallery sketching, or go on your own exhibition tour! All materials are provided. Registration is not required, drop-ins of all ages and up with accompanying adults welcome.  All ages and up with accompanying adults

Talk & Draw

Free . Join an artist to explore art in two different ways at these program. Open to all ages, and held in the Art Gallery.  Pre-registration is suggested, drop-ins are welcome, and events are limited to 25 participants.

Family Workshops

Families may enjoy learning about arts and trying their hand at painting, clay, or textiles. Registration is required in-advance, and the registration deadlines are noted. Workshops have age limits, are limited to 20 participants, and the fee is $20/family (up to 3 people).

Sculpt Clay: family workshop

Registration required by November 13, 2019. Open to ages 10+.
