
All residents of Johnston County, North Carolina are invited to submit their best stories or poems to the Johnston County Writers Group’s first-ever Adult Spring Writing Contest. The contest opens March 30, 2021, with submissions accepted from that date through to the midnight deadline April 30, 2021.
Members of the Johnston County (JoCo) Writers Group, Clayton Writers of Rohan, the Clayton Poetry Group, Writing Warriors for Jesus, and any residents of Johnson County who are 18 years of age or older are eligible to enter in the genre of their choice. Genres accepted:
- Fiction
- Non-fiction
- Romance
- Mystery
- Sci-Fi
- Fantasy
- Christian Inspirational
- Children’s
NO Horror/Erotica will be accepted.
Submitting a short story, essay, or memoir (maximum 2,000 words) or poem (8 to 40 lines) is free — there is no contest fee! Entries must be submitted via email and follow the contest Guidelines. Note that the contest will be cut off when 75 entries have been received. The entries will be read and judged by a unique group the Johnston County Writers’ Group planning team has selected: judges based on expertise, experience and/or publishing accomplishments.
Winners will be announced on Facebook, the writing groups, and in locally selected print and other media outlets.
