On Thursday, September 12, 2019, the Writers Group’s guest speaker will be Wanda Robinson Lee, Ph.D., author of the autobiography, God’s Voice: Choices That Led My Journey. Attendance is free and open to the public.

The Johnston County Writers Group meets the second Thursday of every month, 6-7:45pm, with future meetings to be held at the Public Library of Johnston County and Smithfield (PLJCS), 305 E Market Street, Smithfield, North Carolina. The group formerly met at Selma Public Library for five years.

The Johnston County Writers Group is a diverse group of working writers ranging from beginner to advanced. We share information, critique each other’s work, host guest authors, and schedule meetups, write-ins and open mics in Selma, Four Oaks, Princeton, and more.

Retired educator Gary Ridout, who founded the group in 2014, and Town of Selma Librarian Phyllis Brown, have been instrumental in the group’s growth and success. Gary has passed facilitation of the group on to Pine Level, NC writer Cindy Brookshire.
