The Wendell Chamber of Commerce is seeking nominees for the Mayor’s Award, which honors Wendell’s citizen of the year.

The annual award was established to recognize individuals who quietly go about the town doing the things that make Wendell a wonderful place in which to live. Founded by former mayor Proc Dean, the award honors people not in the public eye, yet emphasizes the important role these citizens have in promoting the Wendell community.

The deadline for submitting a nomination is Friday, October 28, 2016.

The nominees will be reviewed by the Mayor’s committee and the winner will be recognized at the Wendell Chamber of Commerce Banquet Thursday, November 17, 2016. During the Chamber Banquet, the Mayor’s Award recipient receives a plaque, and the honoree attends the banquet as a special guest.

Previous Mayor’s Award winners include:

  • Willie Mae Smith (2015)
  • Kathe Schaecher (2014)

To nominate an individual, write a letter explaining why your nominee is deserving of the award. You can use this 2016 Mayor’s Award nomination form (PDF).  Mail your completed nomination form to Town Hall, Attention Mayor Virginia Gray, 15 E Fourth Street, Wendell, NC 27591; or, hand-deliver it to Town Hall in a sealed envelope by Friday, October 28, 2016.
