The 2019 observance of National Night Out will be held Tuesday, October 1, 2019. This is Rocky Mount, North Carolina’s 23rd year participating in the National Night Out observance.
National Night Out is an annual event designed to strengthen communities by encouraging neighbors to engage in stronger relationships with each other and with their local law enforcement partners. The goal is to heighten crime and drug-prevention awareness, build support and participation in local anti-crime programs, and most importantly, send a message that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back. It’s also the perfect opportunity for neighbors to get to know their neighbors even better.
This year, 14 community organizations, neighborhood associations and/or apartment complexes will host National Night Out events. These events range from a breakfast, family fun night, block party, cookout, hot dog and ice cream social, and a light up the night event. The 14 National Night Out events in Rocky Mount are being sponsored by the following neighborhoods:
- Around The Y Neighborhood (Rain Date: Oct. 3)
- Battleboro Community (Rain or Shine)
- Berkshire Community (Rain Date: Oct. 3)
- Cedarbrook Neighborhood (Rain or Shine)
- Covenant Homes (New) (Rain or Shine)
- Dartmoor/Sheffield Community (Rain Date: Oct. 3)
- Happy Hill Neighborhood (Rain Date: Oct. 3)
- Mayview Community (Rain or Shine)
- South Rocky Mount Community (Rain or Shine)
- Southeast Rocky Mount Community (Rain Date: Oct. 3)
- Villa Place Neighborhood (Rain Date: Oct. 3)
- Weeks Armstrong Apartments (Rain or Shine)
- West End Terrace (Rain or Shine)
- Wood Hawk Apartments (Rain or Shine)
Note that Thursday, October 3 is the rain date for those events without shelter, as noted above.
