On Saturday, November 11, 2017, in conjunction with thousands of events across the country, Keep America Beautiful of Nash and Edgecombe counties will host a recycling event for America Recycles Day. The local celebration will be from 10am to 1pm at the Golden East Crossing Mall — in the JCPenney parking lot near Dunham’s Sports.

Golden East Crossing Mall is located at 1100 N Wesleyan Blvd, Rocky Mount NC.

“America Recycles Day provides a free, convenient way for you to dispose of household waste safely and responsibly,” says Cornelia McGee, Keep America Beautiful coordinator for the city of Rocky Mount. “Thanks to a partnership with Cummins Rocky Mount Engine Plant, this year we will also accept household hazardous waste.” Household waste consists of confidential documents and paper, (up to four bags), old electronics and unwanted or unused prescription drugs. Household hazardous waste includes paint, solvent, varnish and stain waste, automotive fluids, fuel waste, empty L.P. gas tanks, pesticides, cleaners and aerosol cans.

“Reduce, reuse, recycle, is more than a slogan; it is a lifestyle,” says McGee. “The less we waste, the better our environment will be, and not just for this generation but for the next.”

Shredding during America Recycles Day will be performed by Shred It of North Carolina and is free to residents only. American Greenz, Inc. will collect the electronics. America Recycles Day is free to all residents. For more information, call 252.467.4960, or visit www.rockymountnc.gov/kab.
