Tree Giveaway to Celebrate Tu B’Shevat
By Maggie Bailey, Terra Vita Stewards
We Plant It Forward will be outside Temple Beth Or religious school building giving out free tree seedlings in celebration of Tu B’Shevat — the Jewish new year for trees. The tree giveaway is Sunday, January 27, 2019, 8:45am-12:30pm.
The Temple youth group RALFTY Sha’ar has been working with Terra Vita Stewards to prepare for the tree planting. Terra Vita Steward volunteers will be on hand to answer any questions people have about planting trees. Trees provide many benefits to the community include providing shade, producing oxygen, capturing carbon, and gracing us with beauty.
Temple Beth Or is located at 5315 Creedmoor Road, Raleigh, North Carolina. Temple Beth Or “House of Light” is a 100-year-old reform Jewish synagogue serving the Raleigh area with 500+ members.

Services include giving away tree seedlings, tree planting volunteer opportunities, educating students and adults about the benefits of trees and proper tree planting.
People who have received trees from years past report that their trees are thriving. Our tree seedlings come from the North Carolina Forest Service Nursery.
