On Saturday, September 24, 2016, the Zebulon Farm Fresh Market is featuring bees! A beekeeper will be on hand, with a hive and fun activities, to educate all ages about bees and the work that they do.
For “Honey Bee Day” at the market, Zebulon-based Baxter’s Bees is going to have an observation beehive set up. Their bee-themed fun includes special cornhole boards, and a bee cutout to stick your head through and have your picture made.
As part of the bee educational activities, a chef will be demonstrating cooking with honey. Beekeepers and others will be talking about bees, mead, and answering questions from attendees.
For sale at the market will be items made from beehive components — wax, propolis, and honey — including soaps, lip balms, body butters, propolis healing sprays, deodarant, and more.
The Zebulon Farm Fresh Market is located on the lawn in front of the Zebulon Town Hall (Municipal Building), 1003 N Arendell Avenue, in Zebulon NC. The market is open Saturday from 9am to 1pm.
Baxter’s Bees will be represented at the market by Shannon Baxter. The Baxter family has been keeping bees for years. They also help remove and relocate swarms in the area, participating in the local beekeepers association.
Baxter’s Bees is a family-owned business dedicated to saving the world through restoring the honeybee population one hive at a time.

The area beekeepers’ group is the Five County Beekeepers Association which meets throughout the year. The association is online at www.5cba.org.
The Zebulon Farm Fresh Market vendors will be on-hand with their regular produce and product offerings. More on the market and its vendors is available here.
