The Town of Wendell is planning a wide variety of Community Events. The fun begins March 4 and continues through April, with events listed below in chronological order.

Party with a Purpose

Saturday, March 4, 2017, 7-11pm, enjoy this black-tie ticketed event hosted at the Wendell Community Center, 601 West Third Street, Wendell NC.

This year’s party theme is Mardi Gras.  The evening includes a silent auction, $2,000 raffle, live entertainment, and a contest for the best mask.

Party with a Purpose is a fund raiser for the Wendell Appearance Commission (link).  Funds raised this year will go towards public art, including a mascot statue.

ProTown BMX 2017

Come out to Downtown Wendell on Saturday, March 25, 2017, 11am-3pm, and be awed when this team of professional bikers catch air.

ProTown BMX is high energy, fast paced and the opportunity for extreme biker enthusiasts to watch, meet, and hear about bike safety from professionals who show case their talents with tricks in the air on their bikes!

Find a spot to watch the action, which will be on Main Street — between Fourth Street and Depot Street — in downtown Wendell NC. This is a free event.

Easter Egg Hunt

This is a free event sponsored by Passage Church and is hosted at the Wendell Community Park, 601 W Third Street, Wendell NC. Join the fun on Saturday, April 15, 2017, 10:30am-12:30pm.

Children are asked to bring a basket or a bag with them if they plan to participate. Eggs will be hidden around the park lawn.

Jake May Opening Day at the Park

Kick-off the baseball and softball season in Wendell on Saturday, April 22 2017, 9am-3pm. Come and enjoy competitions, kids games and inflatables, ball games, a homerun derby, and more during the “Jake May Opening Day” celebration.

Public Safety Day

Meet the people who keep our community safe at the ninth annual Public Safety Day.  Come to Downtown Wendell on Saturday, May 6, 2017, 10am-2pm, for this free community event.

Enjoy food, fun, facts, and fellowship at this family-friendly town event. Activities will run along Campen Street in downtown Wendell NC.

Citizens of all ages will have the opportunity to interact with local police, fire, and EMS professionals.  Get behind the wheel of a police car, turn on lights/siren, learn about fire and EMS equipment, and enjoy other interactive activities.  If you have any questions about the day’s plans, call 919.365.4445.

Spring Into the Arts Walk

Spend Saturday, May 13, 2017, 10am-10pm, meeting artists of all ages at this gala of visual, fine and performing arts.

Young artists will have their art work from school on display showcasing our young and local talent. Artists are welcome to apply to paint a picture that will be available for auction at the end of the day.

Late afternoon enjoy live music at the J Ashley Wall Square, on the corner of Third Street and Cypress Street, Wendell NC.  After the entertainment at the Square, head to the auction — near 12 N Main Street — to view the art works and bid if you like. Proceeds from the auction will be used for projects recommended by the Wendell Appearance Commission.
