Veterans Entering Transition  (VET), a Raleigh-based nonprofit dedicated to helping exiting military personnel and their families, is hosting its first annual “Veterans and Community Gala” on May 13, 2016. The night offers food, cocktails, live music, auctions, and an opportunity to help veterans.

Guest speakers will include Cornell Wilson, Jr., NC Secretary of Veterans’ Affairs, Gerald Fralick, Chief Security Officer with Lenovo and Amanda Guin, the widow of a deceased veteran. David Crabtree and Leslie Flowers will serve as the Masters of Ceremonies. The North Carolina National Guard will present the Colors, and the event will feature a musical performance from Wake & District Public Safety Pipes and Drums.

The evening’s entertainment will include magician Wayne Anderson, artist Dan Campbell and a hand combat demonstration by tactical martial arts training academy No Lie Blades. Sub Zero Ice Cream will give attendees a taste of their made-to-order ice cream flavors, chilled on the spot with liquid nitrogen.

Various items will be available for purchase at a live auction conducted by Colonel Benjamin Farrell, including an autographed package generously donated by country music artist Ryan Daniel. His song, “Unknown Soldier,” will be shown at the event.

“We’re encouraged by what we have been able to provide for veterans and their families over the past year,” says VET Founder and Executive Director Anne Showalter. “At the same time, we have a long road ahead of us. Our veterans need the community to step up and rally around them. We want people to walk away from this year’s Gala with a better understanding of simple ways that they can make a difference for those who have served.”

The event will take place at the North Carolina Museum of Science at 121 West Jones Street in Raleigh from 6pm to 10pm. Tickets may be purchased for $125 until May 6, 2016, after which the ticket price will increase to $175.

Sponsors include Business Alliance of North Carolina, 925Concepts, Vink Signs and Designs, Kontenders RDU, Bradbury’s Renovations, Powers-Swain Chevrolet, New Horizons, and Island Hospitality Management.

To purchase your tickets for the gala today, please visit the ticket website or the VET website at www.myusvet.org.
