On Saturday, November 10, 2018, Keep America Beautiful (KAB) of Nash and Edgecombe counties will host a recycling event for America Recycles Day.

The celebration will start at 10am and accept items until 1pm at the Golden East Crossing Mall — in the JCPenney parking lot across
from Chick-fil-A. The Mall address is 1100 N Wesleyan Blvd, Rocky Mount NC.

This event includes the recycling of both hazardous and non-hazardous household waste. Non-hazardous waste consists of confidential documents and paper (up to four bags or boxes), old electronics, and unwanted or unused prescription drugs. Paint, engine oil, batteries, pesticides, and other household hazardous waste will be recycled. For a complete list of accepted items, visit www.rockymountnc.gov/kab. Under “Programs” click “America Recycles” to see the list..

Said Jonathan Boone, director of Public Works and Water Resources:

“Reduce, reuse, recycle is more than a slogan; it is a lifestyle. The less we waste, the better our environment will be, and not just for this generation, but for the next.”

Cummins Rocky Mount Engine Plant will sponsor the household hazardous waste collection.

Shredding during America Recycles Day will be performed by Shred It of North Carolina.

American Greenz, Inc. will collect the electronics.

The Rocky Mount Police Department will collect unwanted and unused prescription drugs and medicines.

The event is free to the public; however, monetary donations will be accepted for KAB of Nash and Edgecombe counties. For more information, call 252.467.4960.
