Cultural Arts Festival:  Celebrating the Diversity of Franklin County

Franklin County Arts Council’s Diversity Team will host a Cultural Arts Festival November 17, 2018, 1-4pm, at Vance Granville Community College’s Louisburg Campus, Building 4, 1800 NC Hwy 56, Louisburg, North Carolina.

Arts and crafts, educational displays, and entertainment. Havanna Dave’s food truck with Cuban cuisine will round out the afternoon of multi-cultural experiences.  Spend the afternoon enjoying the diverse arts of Franklin County.  Bring the whole family. This will be a time of sharing cultures and arts.

The African American Quilt Circle of Durham will display their quilts; some for sale. They will also provide sample quilt pieces for people to hand stitch. Linda Wade will give a program on Mustee Folk Art.

Spoken word artist, Jackie Dove-Miller, will present poetry readings. Asha Karkee, an actress and dancer, will perform a dance from her native country, Nepal. In addition, Indian singer, Sunita, will be singing a song from Napal, Mime, Cindy Walker-Miller, will also perform.

Jackie Dove-Miller, Diversity team leader, says, “We’re excited about our first Cultural Arts Festival. Franklin County has a diverse population and a large array of talented artists. This is an opportunity to showcase both.”

Mr. Overton will provide Jazz music and Anthony Harris will perform gospel songs.

 

The FCAC diversity team is made up of members who seek to sponsor arts opportunities to increase overall interest and participation in the culturally diverse community that is Franklin County. Anyone wanting to join the team and help plan events can contact Franklin County Arts Council via email or call 919.497.6910. The diversity team meets monthly on the first Thursday of the month at 2pm at the FCAC Gallery on Main, 118-B N Main Street, Louisburg NC.

Vendor spaces available.  Contact FCAC by calling 919.497.6910 to reserve your spot. Space is limited so register ASAP. The vendor space registration fee is $15, payable upon arrival November 17.
