Wilson County Public Library Announces December 2018 Programs

Wilson County Public Library will offer a variety of free programs for the community this December at the Main Library and Branches.

Founded in 1939, the Wilson County Public Library engages the community and enhances the minds of all ages with programs, lectures, classes, and entertainment.

Main Library hours are 9am to 9pm Monday through Wednesday; and 9am to 6pm Thursday through Saturday.

Branch hours vary.

All library locations are closed on Sundays.

The Wilson County Public Library systems Main Library is located at 249 Nash Street W, Wilson NC.

Perler Bead Ornaments*

Tuesday, December 4, 2018 @ 7pm

Bring kids ages 4 and older to this Youth Services interactive event, where they may create holiday ornaments using Perler Beads.  Rregistration is not required.

A Wish to be a Christmas Tree:  Keva Plank Program*

Tuesday, December 11, 2018 @ 7pm

Ages 4 and older are invited to join Youth Services for a reading of A Wish to be a Christmas Tree by Colleen Monroe, followed by a KEVA Plank challenge.  Registration is not required.

Lego Club*

Tuesday, December 18, 2018 @ 7pm

Come ready to be creative and build during this monthly Youth Services program, open to ages 4 and up. Registration is not required.

WCPL Teen Advisory Board (TAB) Special Session: Teen Focus Group

Thursday, December 6, 2018 @ 6-9pm

Wilson County teens are invited to discuss the future of library programs and services.   Gather in the library’s Assembly Room and participate in a fun “focus group” with other teens. Registration is not required. There will be refreshments provided and door prizes too.

Gift of Music*

Tuesday, December 18, 2018 @ 4:30-5:30pm

Enjoy a holiday-themed musical performance by the Toisnot Middle School Band.  All ages are welcome, so families may join this teen program/event.  Gather in the library’s Assembly Room. Registration is not required.

A Downtown Christmas

Saturday, December 1, 2018 @ 3pm

The library will partner with Historic Downtown Wilson for “A Downtown Christmas” by offering library activities all day.  Stop by the library for a musical sing-a-long, make a Christmas craft to take home, and mingle with library patrons of all ages; not limited to adults.  Walk in; registration is not required.

How to Write a Business Plan

Monday, December 3, 2018 @ 6-9pm

This business workshop will be held in the Main Library Assembly Room. Learn how to turn ideas into a plan for financing and success. Intro to InstaPot

Wednesday, December 19, 2018 @ 2pm

This presentation by Cassidy Hobbs, NC State Extension Agent, covers the basics of the “InstaPot” cooking method. Sample recipes will be prepared during this presentation in the library’s Assembly Room.

Family Holiday Movies

After Christmas day, join the fun in the Assembly room. Watch PG-rated holiday movies, enjoy free refreshments, and spent fun time with children post-holiday.

*Program funded by a Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) Grant awarded to Wilson County Public Library for the creation of a CrAFT Studio—Creativity, Art, Fabrication, and Technology lab.  The CrAFT Studio will combine the MakerSpace movement with STEAM subjects through robotics, coding, crafts, electronics, and more.
