Area Chambers of Commerce, business groups, and local businesses/organizations hold educational events and provide free business training and networking.

Note that regular Chamber member meetings or semi-closed leads groups, are not included in this list. Check with, or join, your local Chamber to find out more about regular meetings near your business.

In addition to opportunities listed below, North Carolina’s community colleges offer free business workshops across the state. Find free “Small Business Center Network” classes by searching at www.ncsbc.net.

Tuesday Morning Coffee Break

Join the Business Alliance of NC for a cup of coffee, conversation, and networking. Scheduled for Tuesday, August 1, 2017, 8-10am, at Lorraine’s Coffee House, 101 Timber Pointe Lane, Garner NC. Build referral relationships and brainstorm with other businesses/entrepreneurs. Rolesville Chamber Quarterly Breakfast

This August 3, 2017, 8:30-10am, networking event is hosted by the Chamber’s Ambassadors. Bring business cards and enjoy a cup of coffee at Rolesville Town Hall, 502 Southtown Circle, Rolesville NC.

First Friday Coffee

Join the Nashville NC Chamber of Commerce on Friday, August 4, 2017, 7:30-8:30am, and have a cup of coffee and network with local Chamber members and area residents. This event recurs on the first Friday of most months. Gather at the Nashville Exchange, W Washington Street, Nashville NC. A sponsoring business covers the coffee costs at each event. This Chamber’s calendar is online at nashvillencchamber.org/calendar. (The next First Friday Coffee is currently planned for September 1, 2017.)

Wilson Chamber B2B

Join the Wilson Chamber of Commerce on August 8, 2017, noon to 1pm, for their inaugural Chamber B2B (business-to-business) event. The location is the Chamber offices on Nash Street, Wilson NC.

2017 State of Our Communities Luncheon

All Smithfield-Selma Chamber of Commerce members and guests are invited to this luncheon on Wednesday, August 9, 2017, noon-1:30pm, at Sysco Food Services, 1032 Baugh Road, Selma NC. Come and receive an update on business and community issues facing Smithfield and Selma. Invited guests include Selma Mayor Cheryl Oliver and Smithfield Mayor Andy Moore.

Strategic Twin-Counties Educational Partnership (STEP) along with area educational partners will host this Summit on Thursday, August 10, 2017, 8-9:30am. ​ Tickets are $15.

“Health Care Matters” Forum

Attend this Forum August 23, 2017, 8:30-10:30am, for discussions and fresh perspectives for your business. Held in the Council Chamber Room at Knightdale Town Hall , 950 Steeple Square Court, Knightdale NC.

The Knightdale Chamber of Commerce is bringing together healthcare leaders to foster in-depth dialogue as part of their Healthcare Matters panel. Representatives from the insurance and medical community will serve as guest panelist and present their knowledge and insight on healthcare matters. Notary Public Training at the Knightdale Chamber

Gain Notary Public certification in one day!  Eliminate the continuous hassle of always running to get documents notarized. The Knightdale Chamber in partnership with Wake Technical Community College, offers a full-day course on August 25, 2017, providing an understanding of the qualifications and requirements to practice as a notary public in NC.

Course content includes understanding the office of notary public, general powers, attestation, certification, oaths and affidavits.  Participants take an exam at the end of the class and complete the application to become a Notary Public.  The Notary Public Guidebook for North Carolina is included in the cost of the class. Register early; class size is limited. Admission fee includes instruction, book and testing. Fee is $140 for Knightdale Chamber members, or $155 for non-members. Register and pay online here or mail check made payable to KCOC, 207 Main Street, Knightdale NC 27545. Payment must be received in advance.

The class will be held at the Knightdale Chamber of Commerce, 207 Main Street, Knightdale NC. Course hours are 9am-4:30pm, with registration beginning at 8:45am.
