Barbara Poole, Co-Founder Poole Funeral Services Named Knightdale Chamber’s 2017 Citizen of the Year

The Knightdale Chamber of Commerce held its 45th-annual Membership Banquet & Awards Ceremony on Tuesday, April 10, 2018, at the Hilton North Raleigh/Midtown.

The event emceed by Brittany Bell, ABC-11, honored local businesses and individuals who demonstrated innovative leadership and possess a passion to serve by making an impact within the local and business community.

Mrs. Barbara Poole, L. Harold Poole Funeral Services received the 2017 “Citizen of the Year” award while Northside Compassion Project, an organization dedicated to providing housing for single parents transitioning out of homeliness, was presented the “Community Impact of the Year” award.

Mrs. Poole, a founder of L. Harold Poole Funeral Services & Crematory along with the late L. Harold Poole, founded the small family business in October 1978. A long-term supporter of the Knightdale Chamber for almost 40 years, was honored for building “upon a solid foundation of stewardship, leadership and service towards enhancing the lives of individuals and building a sense of community in Knightdale and surrounding areas.

The Knightdale Chamber honoree shared that her husband, the late L. Harold Poole, has always believed in supporting and building community. “If you are going to operate a business in Knightdale or surrounding communities, I believe you should be a part of the chamber. There is no way you can buy what it offers to the community.”

The Citizen of the Year Award honors individuals for their commitment and dedication to the advancement of the Knightdale area.
