Edgecombe County NC Library to Celebrate Dr. Seuss’ Birthday

The Edgecombe County Memorial Library is holding a Dr. Seuss’ Birthday Celebration on March 4, 2017, 10am-noon. Kids of all ages are invited to join in this free event, which will feature Dr. Seuss stories, games, crafts, snacks, and door prizes.

Theodor Seuss Geisel, under the pen name Dr. Seuss, wrote dozens of children’s books and a few for grown-ups. His Dr. Seuss books included Horton Hears a Who!The Cat in the HatGreen Eggs and Ham, and many more.

In addition to Dr. Seuss books, Theodor Seuss Geisel wrote the popular Ten Apples Up On Top! and 13 other books under the pen name Theo. LeSieg (his last name, reversed).

Born March 2, 1904, Dr. Seuss’ birthday is celebrated in libraries across the United States. In addition to the Tarboro library’s celebration, other events in NC will celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday:

  • Dr. Seuss Birthday Party on March 3, 2017 @ 4:30pm — Cameron Village Regional Library, Raleigh NC (registration req.)
  • Dr. Seuss Birthday Celebration on March 2, 2017 @ 2:30pm — in the Greensbory Public Lbrary & a nearby park, Greensboro NC (here)
  • Celebrate Seuss! on March 2, 2017 @ 3:30pm — Transylvania County Library, Brevard NC (here)
